The place where I work has come up with a new rule wherein servers must be at work by 2:45 but cannot clock in until 3:00. If we get there at 2:50, we are considered late & are written up. Granted, this being a state where we only get $3/hour, that 15 minutes would only give me a few cents, but then what's to stop them from making us come in a hour early, unpaid? It just seems really shady to me. I say if I'm working AT 3:00, what does it matter what time i got there?

Re: Does this sound legal?
Fri, February 2, 2007 - 7:13 PMIt doesn't sound, or seem legal at all. I'd check the labor laws in your state, on top of federal labor laws as well.
